FICIX ry perustettu


Suomessa toimivien operaattoreiden IP-yhdysliikennepisteen ympärille on perustettu yhdistys, 
Finnish Communication and Internet Exchange, FICIX ry. Yhdistyksen tavoitteena on 
Internetissä tapahtuvan viestinnän edistäminen mm. yhdysliikennejärjestelyillä. Tähän 
FICIX pyrkii vaikuttamaan järjestämällä yhdysliikennepisteiden operoinnin parhaalla 
mahdollisella tavalla ja kehittämällä jäsenistön yhteistoimintaa.

FICIX-yhdistyksen perustamisasiakirjan allekirjoittivat 24.9.2001 yksitoista yritystä tai 
liittoa: AT&T Global Network Services Oy, CSC-Tieteellinen laskenta Oy, Oy Datatie Ab, 
Finnet -liitto ry, Global One Communications Oy, ICL Invia Oyj, Jippii Group Oyj, 
KPNQwest Finland Oy, Song Networks Oy, Sonera Carrier Networks Oy ja Utfors Oy. 

FICIX -yhdysliikennepiste on aikaisemmin toiminut samalla nimellä perustuen operaattoreiden 
välisiin sopimuksiin. Toiminnan laajuuden ja merkityksen kasvaessa yhdistysmalli mahdollistaa 
joustavamman ja tehokkaamman toiminnan.

Yhdistyksen hallituksen puheenjohtajaksi valittiin Jorma Mellin / Song Networks Oy, ja 
jäseniksi Tuomo Hakala / Oy Datatie Ab, Juha Oinonen / CSC-Tieteellinen laskenta Oy, 
Tommy Lindgren / Sonera Carrier Networks Oy sekä Toni Germano / KPNQwest Finland Oy.

FICIX Association founded

An association has being founded to support IP traffic exchange between operators 
in Finland. The association is named as Finnish Communication and Internet Exchange, FICIX. 
The mission for the association is to guarantee the operation of usable and useful exchange 
point in Finland. FICIX aims to achieve its mission by arranging the operations the best 
possible way, and to develop co-operation between the membership bodies.

FICIX-association were founded and signed at 24.9.2001 by the following 11 companies or 
alliances: AT&T Global Network Services Oy, CSC- Scientific Computing Ltd, Oy Datatie Ab, 
Finnet -association ry, Global One Communications Oy, ICL Invia Oyj, Jippii Group Oyj, 
KPNQwest Finland Oy, Song Networks Oy, Sonera Carrier Networks Oy and Utfors Oy. 

FICIX -exchange point has earlier worked under the same name based on agreements signed 
between operators involved. As activities and significance increase the model of an 
association can provide more flexible and effective operational environment.

The following trustees were elected at the founding meeting: Jorma Mellin / Song 
Networks Oy as chairman of the board, and members of the board are Tuomo Hakala / 
Oy Datatie Ab, Juha Oinonen / CSC- Scientific Computing Ltd, Tommy Lindgren / Sonera 
Carrier Networks Oy and Toni Germano / KPNQwest Finland Oy.
